Week 8

hey hey

I have to apologize for this late post.  The past 2 weeks haven't been the best for me, but life goes on.  2015 got off to a pretty good start for me.  I don't think I mentioned it, but I did my very first photo shoot!  It was a very good experience and one I look forward to repeating.  The photographer is a friend of a friend.  He did a shoot with my "baby" sister last year, which I did her makeup for.  Then I followed her out to the shoot; part makeup artist, part chaperone lol.  We got to the locale, he took one look at me and stated very plainly, "You're next." So I was like, "Um, okay," not really taking him seriously.  But apparently, not only was he quite serious, he took the time out to come up with  ideas and locales specifically for me.  How about that?

Anyway, here are a few spoilers from my shoot.

If you've never been on or participated in a photo shoot, let me tell you.  It's harder than it looks.

I've seen ANTM.  I'm guilty of sayin to myself, "I could do that,"  I've learned to appreciate what those ladies go through.  Or gentlemen, respectively.

Yes, the water was cold.  But it's just one of those things you have to suck up, grin and bear it.  You'd be surprised the things you can get used to if you just tough it out.

So, there is is.  All in all, he took roughly 182 picture.  I didn't even know it was that many til I saw the sheets.  I'm actually surprised at how they turned out.  Ever have a moment when you see something that looks like you but it hasn't really registered that it really is you?  That's how I feel looking at these pictures.  It's a little bit surreal to me because the lady in those pics looks like a model.  Like she should be on some magazine cover or in some brochure.  Guess I'm a natural.  Go figure . . .

Happy 2015 - Week 5

hey hey

Here it is.  A brand New Year, full of opportunities and adventures.  Looks like I got a head start with all the things I began last month for my birthday.  I'm lookin forward to this New Year and all the experiences to learn and grow that it will present to me.

So, it's Week Five!  That means I've made it to and passed my first 30 day mark.  It's been surprisingly easy to fall into the routine of not messing with my hair.  Well, not messing with it too much lol.  One of the first things I did was to go around the house and snag all the stuff I used to use.  This took a while.  I always knew I was a product junkie but good Lord.  Here's what I found:

Yes, I know.  That's a lot of stuff.  I didn't use it everyday and there are a lot of multiples in that pile.  Within the last year of me bonding with my mane, I grew quite attached to Shea Moisture, particularly the Coconut Hibiscus line. Those are those peachy kinda colored bottles.  I had a set for home and a set that was taken and brought back from my summer in Alaska.  All the other bottles are things that I tried but didn't use on a regular basis.  Some I liked, some didn't give me the results I desired or hoped for and some just had that last little trickle in the bottle but I just hadn't gotten around to throwing it out yet. And of course, there are combs and brushes and other electronic devices, in addition to the products that now my mom and sisters are laying dibs to.  So, guess I got started on some early spring cleaning.

Yesterday, I went for my first re-tightening.  I wasn't sure what to expect but I was happy that it wasn't gonna take nearly as long as having my fuzzies installed in the first place.  I did manage to count my babies before my first wash and I had 370.  Since then, my loctitian has added a few more around the edges as my hair has started growing out.  Per her report, my hair is conforming nicely and I seem to have more growth on my right side than the left.  The dryness on my scalp is lessened so that's a huge plus in my book.  She told me to be careful when I wear my sweaters to work, as she noticed 2 little pieces of lint.  But overall, my first month has gone well and while she was a little worried that I'd passed the 4 week mark, I'm actually right on schedule.

So, here comes the rest of January.  Hard to believe the year just started and we're already halfway through the month.  But time waits for no one so that just means I'll be fully loc'ed in no time . . .
